Windows Hello

Modified on Thu, 4 Dec at 2:28 PM

A faster, secure way to access NHS systems and applications.

If Windows Hello is enabled on your ICB account, you can use this as an authenticator for NHS Care ID.

  • No need to insert your smartcard or other authenticator you may have
  • Access compatible applications without a VPN
  • Got a smartcard? You can still use this if you prefer and when signing in from a different device

The ICB is rolling out Windows Hello to Care ID users, if you've not yet been contacted; you can submit a request for this by confirming you're ready.

Already have an Authenticator? (Smartcard etc)

You can self-register Windows Hello against your Care ID account.

Don't yet have an Authenticator?

See our general Authenticators article to request this, or a Care ID profile if you don't yet have one.
